Asparagus Transplanted

One of our first projects was to move a large number of asparagus plants to a new site. The farm sells its asparagus each year. Students harvest it in Spring. We have both green and purple varieties. Our purple variety however will be allowed to rest from harvest this year since we have just transplanted it recently.

Plants waiting to by planted in their new location.

Strip Beds were made for the new location.

Asparagus root "uprooted".

Alfalfa Mulching. That is Monica my wife....maybe waving her hands as she conducts the workers and me like a symphony orchestra.

Mulching with Alfalfa Hay to provide nitrogen, organic matter, moisture retention and soil retention in the windy Oklahoma climate.
